Robert Bertekap

Robert Bertekap, age 77, of Fords, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2025. He was born on October 4, 1947 in Perth Amboy, NJ and lived his whole life in Fords, NJ. After graduating Woodbridge High School, he married his high school sweetheart, Phyllis, on July 4, 1967 and started their family together. During his career, Robert worked as a computer programmer for Hess Corporation and Consumers Distributing, and most recently as a graphic designer for High Grade Beverage located in South Brunswick. Robert was a parishioner of Our Lady of Peace RC Church and a longtime member of their Vocal and Bell choirs. His favorite pastimes were photography, taking long drives, and walking in the park - usually with a golden retriever at his side.
Robert was predeceased by his loving wife, Phyllis and his parents, Louis and Helen Bertekap.
Surviving Robert are his children, Robert (Laura) Bertekap Jr. and Elissa Webster; his grandchildren, Robert (Jenna) Bertekap, III and Nicholas Bertekap; his sister Marcella Miller and her children, Sherri (Gerry) Foley, III, Kimberly Daniewicz, and Melissa (Marc) Ashmon; and his grandniece and nephews, Michael, Emily, Gerald, and Monty.
A Memorial Visitation is scheduled for Friday, April 25, 2025, from 4:00-7:00 PM at the Flynn and Son / Mitruska Funeral Home, 23 Ford Avenue, Fords, NJ. Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at 9:00 AM at the funeral home followed by a 9:30 AM Memorial Mass at Our Lady of Peace Church, Fords. Inurnment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
