MAYSVILLE — Robert L. Biddle, 83, passed away on Friday, January 26, 2024.
His loving and caring family were with him as he died in peace.
Bob Biddle was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin D. Biddle. Bob was a 1958 graduate of Maysville High School.
He received his Bachelors degree in biology and Business Administration from Transylvania University.
He received his Master's Degree from Morehead State University and his educational administration degree from Xavier University.
Mr. Biddle was involved and administered many community affairs in Maysville.
He was a teacher, principal, and superintendent of the Maysville Independent School District for 36 years.
He spent 20 years as superintendent of schools and was instrumental in merging the Maysville School System with Mason County in 1991.
He then served as assistant superintendent with Mason County until 1999. Mr. Biddle then directed the federal title III program at the Maysville Community College.
He retired in 2004 after 41 years in education.
Bob was a member of the Kentucky School Boards Association, Kentucky Association of School Administrators, Kentucky Association of school Super, Past President of Maysville Education Association, Past Secretary/Treasurer of Eastern Kentucky Superintendent Association.
Mr. Biddle was a member of Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity and President of freshman and sophomore classes at Transylvania University.
He was selected for Who's Who in American Education in 1989-1990.
Mr. Biddle was an elder and past board president of the First Christian Church. He was a past president of the Maysville Rotary Club and received the Rotarian Paul Harris Award.
He was a member of the DeKalb Lodge, Masonic Lodge, and Past President of the Community Crib Association.
Mr. Biddle was very involved in scouting. He was an Eagle Scout, past district president and the Executive Board of Directors for regional scouting.
Bob was a member of the Mason Manor Home for Children, Jaycees Outstanding Educator, Past Board of Directors of First Federal Savings and Loan of Cumberland Bank, and Kentucky Colonel.
Bob was selected as Distinguished Alumnus of Maysville High School, and Mason County Schools, a director of Limestone Family YMCA, Board of Directors of the Buffalo Trace Area Development District Development Foundation, Board member of Mason County Museum, Hayswood Foundation, Hospice of Hope, and Library Board.
Bob was awarded the Key to the City of Maysville and the Mason County Frontiersman Award for his contribution to education in Maysville and Mason County. He was also the Grand Marshall of the 4th of July parade in 1999.
He served many years on the Maysville Mason County Joint Planning Commission.
Bob will be sadly missed by his love and his loving wife, Beverly Kalb Biddle. They were married 59 years.
He leaves his loving sons Dr. Brian L. Biddle (Renee) and Brent. A. Biddle (Jill). Also, his loving grandchildren, Jansen L. Biddle and Blake A. Biddle. He was very devoted to his wife, children, and grandchildren, daughters-in-law, and loved each very much.
Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at MaysLick Cemetery.
Service will be given by Rev. Jeff Sames.
Memorials or contributions can be given to the First Christian Church or Maysville Hospice of Hope, or charity of choice.
