Robert Billie

Robert Lee Billie, age 89, was born on October 27, 1936, in Philadelphia, Mississippi.
He was a tribal member of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians, and he spent his
early years growing up on the Choctaw Reservation, where his roots and identity were
deeply formed. At the age of 15, Robert left home to pursue his education, earning his
high school diploma from Haskell Institute in Lawrence, Kansas.
Following Haskell, Robert moved to Chicago, Illinois, where he attended Wright College
while working to build his future. Shortly after moving to Chicago, he married and
welcomed his first daughter, Ellen "Jenny". He later began a long and dedicated career
with Ar Bee Corporation, where he worked faithfully for over 30 years.
On April 28, 1974, Robert was blessed with twin daughters, Lisa and Leslie. In 1977, he
married his great friend and companion whom he loved dearly, Lydia "Ginger" Hill, and
together they welcomed their daughter Roberta "Bobbie" on May 29, 1978.
After Ar Bee Corporation sold its business, Robert continued his professional journey
with Linmarr Associates. In 2003, he relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada, where he worked
until his retirement in 2008. Following retirement, he returned home to Chicago.
In 2021, Robert moved to Texas with his daughter and son-in-law, and grandson,
Bobbie, Angel and little Angel, as they relocated for a work opportunity. He spent his
final years surrounded by family.
Robert Billie passed away peacefully on February 9, 2026, in Floresville, Texas.
He is lovingly survived by his wife, Lydia Billie; his daughters Ellen Billy of Allen, Texas;
Lisa Burkhardt of Siren, Wisconsin; Leslie Billy (Jake Didier) of Webster, Wisconsin; and
Roberta Ramos (Angel Ramos Sr.) of Floresville, Texas.
He is also survived by his sister, Lula Mae Feazelle of Chicago, Illinois; his
grandchildren: Michelle D. Cope (Brandon Cope), Jennifer Gomez, Phillip J. Gomez
(Lauren Bowles), Kyle Bauer, Jacob Weaver, Haley Burkhardt, Casey Burkhardt
(Bailey), Coen Burkhardt, and Angel Ramos Jr.; and his honorary granddaughter,
Melissa Vasquez (Gilbert Gurrola), and last but not least his many beloved nieces and nephews
His legacy continues through his great-grandchildren: Jacob Charvoz (Jamie Wiser),
Jayna Gomez, Sarah Charvoz, Robert Gomez, Benjamin Cope, Devon Bauer, Nathan
Bauer Jr, Henry Gomez, and Anthony "Andy" Gomez.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Lee Billy and Henrietta C. Ben; his
siblings Steve Billy, Collins Billy, Andrew Billy, Mary Bell, Lois Hernandez, and Sarah
Walker; his honorary daughter Christine Morrison; and his grandson Nathan Bauer Sr.
Robert will be remembered for his dedication to family, his wisdom, integrity, sense of
humor, strong work ethic and the love he shared with all who knew him. He will also be
known for the faith he had in the Lord and praying for his family. His memory will live on
forever in the hearts of his family and friends.
