Robert "Bob" Bitting

Robert A. “Bob” Bitting, 75, passed away on February 17, 2026 at the Reading Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Sandra (Bower) Bitting. They shared 47 of years together.

Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Donald and Marion Bitting. Bob graduated from Reading High School, and the Reading Police Academy. He held different positions throughout his career in law enforcement, including police officer, a criminal investigator, and a Berks County Deputy Sheriff.

Bob took great pride in his home, and would often be outside doing yardwork. He also enjoyed spending time at the beach, and spending time with his family. He was also a lifetime member of the Chandler Lodge 227, and Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 9.

In addition to his wife, Sandra, those cherishing his memory are his children: Lisa Newswagner (Tony), Blair Jones (Chris), Aimee Sanford (Mike), and Jacob Greth (Erica); his grandchildren: Jonathan, Andrew, Reagan, Liam, Annie, Beau, and Ben; his great grandson, Jonas; as well as his brother, John “Jack” Stutzman. He was predeceased by his brother, Donald “Skip” Bitting.

The viewing for Bob will be held on Tuesday, February 24, 2026 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Kuhn Funeral Home, 739 Penn Ave, West Reading, PA 19611.
