Robert Dean Dorward passed away January 29, 2025 at the age of 82. He was born in Franklin Township, Pennsylvania.
Robert lived a life filled with dedication, love, and service. A graduate of Lehighton High School, he went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Air Force as an Air Policeman from 1962 to 1966. His service took him to various parts of the world, including 1½ years in Turkey, where he earned multiple decorations, including the Air Force Good Conduct Medal and the Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon.
He was a devoted family man, known as a loving husband, dad, brother, Pepa, and friend. He was proceeded in death by his wife, Deann Dorward; his daughter, Tracey Lambert-Pocock; and his sister Dolores. He is survived by his children Shawn Dorward and wife Kay, Dawn Dorward, Allen Williams, and Misty Dorward Hoffmeister and husband Brian; his brother Calvin and wife Janet; his sister Kathleen and husband Lewis; his brother Harland; 12 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.
He was a skilled craftsman, he retired from the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) after more than 26 years of service. Starting as a machinist and growing into a steel fabricator, he trained apprentices and inspired others with his expertise. His passion for woodworking led him to create one-of-a-kind handcrafted pieces that he shared with family and friends.
Robert was an avid outdoorsman, he found joy in traveling, camping, and capturing nature through photography. He also had a deep love for college football, especially cheering on the Texas Longhorns. Beyond his personal interests, he gave back to his community as a volunteer youth baseball coach.
