Flanner Buchanan Cremation & Burial - Memorial ParkRobert Allen “Bob” Hessman, 78, of Cicero, IN, passed away at his home on Sunday, March 1, 2026. Bob, as he was commonly known, was born in Indianapolis, IN alongside his twin sister, Roberta, on April 1, 1947, to parents, George J. and Helen D. (Staley) Hessman. He graduated from Warren Central High School and went on to serve his country honorably in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Bob retired from Eli Lily, where he worked as a supervisor in the insulin production department.
Bob loved the outdoors, especially the water, and going on cruises was his favorite pastime. Bob was also an avid James Bond fan.
Bob married the love of his life, Verla Richmann, on March 9, 1968, and she survives. He is also survived by his children: Kevin Hessman and Beth Ann Hessman; grandchildren: Megan Rickert and Nathan Rickert; twin sister, Roberta Brooking; sister-in-law, Cindy Morrow (Tom); and his nieces and nephews: Denise Dale, Danielle Brooking, Anna Messer and Aaron Messer.
A graveside service will be held at 2pm, Thursday, March 5, 2026, at Memorial Park Cemetery.
In Lieu of flowers Memorial contributions can be made in Bob’s name to: Indiana Chapter of the ALS Association Inc.
