Robert E. Kley, age 69 suddenly passed away on March 15, 2024 of cardiac arrest at his beloved Ferndale area home. Robert (Bob) was born in Bellingham, WA on December 20, 1954 to Karl and Elizabeth Kley who predeceased him.
Robert grew up on his family farm in Birch Bay and graduated from Blaine High School in 1973. Robert was known to be a mellow, patient and helpful person. He was a “rock” to those close to him. Robert enjoyed a quiet easy life working on his property, hiking and biking through parks, combing beaches, woodworking, machining, black and white photography and target shooting. He will be remembered for his non judgemental listening skills, his incredible accepting nature and calm demeanor.
Robert is survived by his spouse of 39 years, Gina Fagan Kley and their granddaughter Bailey A. McFerren of the family home.
Also cherishing his memory are his sister, Nancy DeMent and her husband Dan DeMent, step sons, Nathaniel Miller and Jeremiah Miller and partner Jon Day, niece Gail DeMent, nephew Cory DeMent and wife Regan DeMent, granddaughter Bryttney McFerren, and many other relatives and friends. Robert’s brother, William C. Kley passed away in 1966.
Due to Robert’s love of his beloved Washington state, and gratitude for Animals as Natural Therapy, the family requests donations be made to Washington State Parks and Animals as Natural Therapy of Whatcom County.
