Robert Charles (Bob or Robert C.) Lowe, age 78, of Mountain City, passed away on December 10 at Holston Valley Hospital in Kingsport, TN, after complications from surgery.

Bob was born on August 5, 1947, in Mountain City, Tennessee, to Leila Gertrude Butler Lowe and Charles C. Lowe. Bob grew up in Mountain City, and, after high school, attended Milligan College and the University of Tennessee Medical School in Memphis, where he earned a Doctor of Pharmacy degree. After initially working at a pharmacy in Johnson City, Bob worked 30 years for the State of North Carolina, the latter years serving as the Director of Pharmacy at Broughton Hospital in Morganton, N.C. Bob moved back to Mountain City in 2007 and worked for several years at Mountain City Pharmacy before retiring again in 2017.

Bob had a number of interests and loved his retirement. He enjoyed painting, caring for his cabin and yard, music, cheering for (or yelling at) the Tennessee Vols, and taking care of his precious dogs and cats. Bob also loved to travel and enjoyed several cruises. He was a member of the First Methodist Church where he served in the choir for a short while. Bob was also a Shriner and a Master Mason of Taylorsville Lodge 243.

In addition to his parents, Bob Lowe was preceded in death by his wife Emily Lowe. He is survived by his daughter Elizabeth Lowe Beach (Johnny) and his beloved granddaughter Aggie Beach, both of Morganton, N.C. After his return to Mountain City, Bob’s years were also enhanced by his close friendship with Lynn Shupe of Mountain City. He is also survived by his special cousin Mona Butler Alderson, and several other cousins.

Friends and family are invited, the family will receive friends from 12-1:00 P.M. on Monday, December 15, 2025 at First United Methodist Church. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 P.M. with Rev. John Crabtree to officiate and Jerry Jerry McKee to speak. Masonic rites will follow the funeral service. Graveside service and burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.

In honor of his love for animals, donations in memory of Bob may be made to Rescue Dog and End of Life Sanctuary of Mountain City.
