Robert "Bob" Alan Olson, of Wolverton, MN; beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on February 14, 2024, at Essentia Hospital in Fargo, ND.
Bob was born on July 11, 1959, in Moorhead, MN, to Virgil Duwayne and Beverly Ann (Taasas) Olson. Bob's early years were shaped by his connection to Comstock Lutheran Church. He was baptized and confirmed there. His education began at the Comstock grade school through the 6th grade before he went on to graduate from Barnesville High School in 1977. Throughout his high school years, Bob excelled in wrestling, football, and golf. His dedication earned him the title of All-Conference guard in football. After graduating, he pursued a degree for Industrial Arts at Moorhead State University.
Bob's career path took him on various ventures that reflected his vibrant personality and love for nature. He started by building grain elevators before embarking on an exciting chapter of his life in Big Sky, MT. In this picturesque town nestled among majestic mountains, Bob ran a bustling ski shop and managed a condo association. Additionally, he showcased his culinary skills as a cook at the renowned Corral Restaurant.
In 1998, Bob returned to his roots in Minnesota where he moved home to care for his ailing father. He later began working for Quality Concrete and also lended a helping hand to local farmers.
To all the Comstock kids who cherished him dearly, he was affectionately known as Uncle Bob. playful spirit brightened their lives. Outside of his professional pursuits and family connections, Bob had an array of hobbies and interests that brought joy into his life. He found solace and tranquility while fishing throughout the year, appreciating the beauty of nature's gift. Furthermore, he possessed a unique talent for repurposing miscellaneous items, showcasing his creativity and ability to see the potential in the ordinary. Bob also enjoyed playing fastpitch softball, showcasing his athletic prowess while embracing a sense of camaraderie with his teammates.
Bob's passing leaves behind a void that will be felt deeply by all who knew him. He is survived by his devoted siblings, Deborah Braun (Baggs, WY) and Brenda (Paul) Anderson (Comstock, MN), as well as several beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother.
To honor Bob's remarkable life and provide an opportunity for family and friends to pay their respects, a memorial service will be held at Comstock Lutheran Church in Comstock, MN on February 20, 2024, at 2:00 PM with Rev Jill Steichen presiding. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
