Robert, "Bob" Schutter Senior, 91, of Bicknell, IN passed on peacefully at his home May 13, 2025. He was born in Vincennes, IN on May 5, 1934, to the late Fred & Leona (Pruitt) Schutter.
Bob was known for getting things done fast & efficiently. He was never one to be left behind & loved a challenge. At age 4 he started school with his brother Bill who was in second grade. His Father & Uncle Frank taught him skills & benefits of trapping, fishing & hunting in the Dixie Orchards of Vincennes. After graduating, Bob, proud to serve his country, entered the United States Navy. His last assignment was aboard the USS Shanghai La, where he received the National Defense Medal. Bob married his childhood sweetheart, Patricia Richardson, Aug 2, 1953. Together they raised 5 children, modeling the values of hard work & responsibility, for self & their community. Bob was a member of the Knox County Fair Board & the Bicknell Pool Board. He served as the North Knox Junior High Wrestling Coach for several years along with serving as a wrestling referee. He was manager for the Edwardsport CFS; owner/operator of Schutter & Sons Fertilizer business; was a pig farmer; employed at the city of Bruceville water works; his later years he spent farming with his son. Bob's remaining years were spent creating "crazy quilts", gifting them to all those he came in contact with. Bob enjoyed being a Father, Grandfather & Great Grandfather. He is leaving behind a wonderful legacy & will be deeply missed.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents Fred & Leona Schutter; his wife Pat Schutter; daughter Leona Noland; siblings Bill Schutter, Caroline Allen & Betty McCormick.
He is survived by his children Bobby Jr. (Karen) Schutter, Mark (Terri) Schutter, Tim (Lauri) Schutter, David (Jennifer) Schutter; his grandchildren Brian (Summer) Noland, Eric (Jody) Nolan, Curtis (Heather) Schutter, Lea Crosby, Michelle (Brandon) Sanders, Holly (Alex) Pfeiffer, Jenna (Larry) Branch, Joshua (Morgan) Schutter, Ethan (Maggie) Schutter, Olivia Schutter, Chelsie (Clayton) Flowers, Tessa (Hunter) Dillender, Dakota (Aidan) Schutter, Kami Schutter, Jason Schutter, Justin Schutter; many beloved great grandchildren; son-in-law Randy Noland (Leona); several nieces, nephews & friends.
Goodwin-Sievers is honored to be entrusted with the care of Mr. Schutter. A Graveside service will be held at a later date.
Memorial donations can be made to the Vincennes Animal Shelter in Bob's honor.
