Robert “Bob” Stanley Daves, 81, of Morehead City, North Carolina, passed away Sunday, November 5, 2023, at UNC Chapel Hill Hospital, after being recently diagnosed with AML Leukemia.

A memorial service to honor Bob’s life will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 2nd, at Munden Funeral Home in Morehead City, North Carolina, officiated by Rev. Karl Zorowski. The family will receive friends one hour prior. A Celebration of Life reception will immediately follow.

Bob was born on August 21, 1942, in Burke County, North Carolina, to the late Paul and Geneva Roper Daves. For years he was a member of First Methodist Church in Morehead City. Bob was a dedicated member of Ducks Unlimited, where he supported the conservation of our wetlands and habitats. He proudly served his country in the National Guard with much dedication.

Raised in the mountains of Drexel, North Carolina, Bob attended Western Carolina University and was a graduate of the University of South Carolina at Columbia.  He was a brother in the Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity. Bob spent many summers on the coast of SC.  He was a bellman at the famous Ocean Forest Hotel in Myrtle Beach (and had living quarters above the horse stables); he was a lifeguard and worked at Sonny’s Pavilion in North Myrtle Beach.  After college, Bob was a successful salesman of computer equipment in Greensboro, NC; many years as a top salesman at Advanced Drainage Systems in Atlanta, GA, Charlotte, NC, and Savannah, GA; and Marina owner and restauranteur in Oriental, NC. He then became a real estate agent in Raleigh, NC, then onto Morehead City where he was a broker with Al Williams Properties of Atlantic Beach, NC for more than 15 years.  Bob was blessed with continued friendships with so many people from all of these periods of his life.

Bob had a passion for reading, and mastered daily newspaper crossword puzzles in ink!  He loved duck hunting, and playing golf with his buddies at Morehead City Country Club, and card games at his home.  He loved his family fiercely and was happily married for over 25 years to his love, Lynn. Bob will be deeply missed by his friends and family.

Those remaining to cherish his memory are his daughters, Penni Tracy (Todd) of Roswell, GA, and Suzanne Hodge of Myrtle Beach, SC; sister-in-law, Denise Swain (Frank) of Stuart, FL; nephew, Grayson Swain (Karla) of Vero Beach, FL; cousins, Jimmy Haigler (Loetta) of Morganton, NC and Ginger Chapman of West Jefferson, NC; and many loving nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Lynn Adams Daves, and his precious dog, Patsy Cline.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Boys and Girls Club of Coastal Plain, designated for Carteret County, https://bgccp.com/.
