Cournoyer Funeral Home & Cremation CenterRobert ‘Bob’ Williams, 78, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 12, 2025, at the Cheshire Medical Center in Keene after a period of failing health.
He was born on May 14, 1947, in Gardner, Massachusetts, a son of Simon and Eudora (Merriam) Williams. Bob was raised in Athol and graduated from Athol High School in 1965. After high school, Bob served in the United States Air Force and was stationed at Torrejón Air Base in Madrid, Spain. His time in the service gave him experiences and memories that stayed with him throughout his life.
Bob began his career working for various local builders, including Baybutt Construction in Keene. He later took the leap to work for himself as a residential carpenter. Always willing to lend a hand, Bob could often be found helping a friend with a project — no matter how big or small. He was a man of few words but still loved being part of any gathering, surrounded by friends and family. He was a familiar face around town, especially during morning coffee with friends at The Minute Mart, where you could count on his smile and familiar nod.
Beyond his work, Bob enjoyed a range of interests that brought him joy. He was an avid NASCAR fan who loved the excitement of the races, and he also enjoyed trap shooting.
In addition to his parents, was also preceded in death by his brother, Kevin.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Carolyn (Singleton) Williams of Troy, NH, his son Tyson and his wife Kellie Williams, and Bob was also the proud grandfather of Thatcher, Landon, and Cameron Williams, all of Troy, NH. Bob also leaves behind his sister Terri Deschenes of Jaffrey, NH, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
As we remember Bob, we celebrate the life of a remarkable individual who dedicated himself to his family, his work, and his country, leaving behind an enduring impact that will not be forgotten.
A celebration of Bob’s life will take place at the Troy Community Center located at 61 South St, Troy, NH 03465, on October 16th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made in Bob’s name to a charity of your choice.
