Robert "Bobby" Hamer Britt passed away among family at his home in Raeford on September 11th, 2025.
Bobby was born to Robert and Allie Britt in Rowland, North Carolina on June 17, 1947. The oldest of seven brothers, Bobby developed a life long love of baseball playing with his siblings in the backyard. That love continued his entire life as an Atlanta Braves Baseball fan and a diehard UNC Basketball fan. A graduate of Pembroke State University, Bobby spent over 20 years as a teacher finishing his career at Hoke County High School. In addition to teaching he coached football, basketball, baseball and golf. Bobby was proud to have finished his teaching in the same classroom as his daughter. Bobby proudly served in the North Carolina Army National Guard for 6 years. In addition to his teaching career Bobby was the owner of a renowned convenience store in Raeford, NC famous for its hot dogs.
Bobby was married in 1970 to the former Emily Jane Parks of Rowland, NC. The couple lost their first child, Holly, at birth in 1973. Jane and Bobby went on to have two more children Heather and George.
Bobby is survived by his wife of 55 years Jane Britt, his daughter, Heather and her husband (Kelby), son, George and his wife (Paige), three grandsons (Noah, Luke, Parks), and a granddaughter (Connor), and four of his brothers. He was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle and will be deeply missed.
Visitation will be 5:00 -6:00 PM Monday, September 15, 2025 at the Raeford United Methodist Church, 308 North Main Street, Raeford, NC 28376. A celebration of Bobby's life will follow at 6:00 PM with the Reverends Terry Dooly and Brian Perry officiating.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hoke County Athletics (please specify Baseball or Softball), 505 South Bethel Road, Reaford, NC 28376.
