Robert “Bobby” McKinley Lotz passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday February 14th, 2024, at the age of 70. He was the beloved husband to Rebecca Willis Lotz, a treasured father to Jennifer Rebecca Ebel (Brian) and Joseph Robert Lotz (Ashley), an adored grandfather to Victoria Elise Ebel and Olivia Grace Lotz, cherished brother to Susan Lotz DeRada (Sergio), a favored uncle to William “Billy” Berger and Chad Martin, and a fondly remembered, fun-loving spirit in the lives of many more family members and friends. Bobby was born on Saturday September 5th, 1953, in New Orleans, Louisiana, and spent his childhood and teenage years living in Metairie. It was here that he met the woman he would spend the next 50 years with, and together on March 2nd, 1974, he and Rebecca started what he considered to be the greatest chapter of his life… their own family.
Bobby spent most of his young adult life with his family of four, in Sandy Springs, Georgia, before deciding to return to his home state of Louisiana and ultimately settling with his wife and children in his family home in Abita Springs. Never one to sit idle, Bobby could always be found helping family and friends. Whether it was teaching his son Joe how to repair a car engine, bartending for his nephew Billy’s special events company, or taking any of “his girls” shopping, Bobby was not only someone you could count on, but you were all but ensured to have a great time doing any of these things with him around! He loved hosting and attending family events, telling hilarious tales of his youthful misadventures, traveling far and wide, learning about lost civilizations and ancient aliens, and shopping for the best deal at any store you took him to. Bobby was preceded in death by his mother and father, Maxine and Joseph Lotz and his niece Kelly Berger.
Family was everything to Bobby and as he rests in peace, may his family share the same love with each other that he had for them.
A private memorial service will be held at his daughter Jennifer’s home for his closest family and friends. We ask all others to please share a memory and/or photo of Bobby on the Digital Guestbook below.
