Robert "Bobby" Wayne McElhinney

ROCKFORD, IL ~ Robert “Bobby” Wayne McElhinney, 77, passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at Swedish American Hospital of Rockford, IL. He was born September 12, 1947, in Muscatine, IA, the son of Robert Elmer & Dorothy Eileen (Wilson) McElhinney. He retired after over 35 years working for the Union Pacific Railroad, repairing cars as a Carman. He honorably served his country in the United States Navy between the years of 1965 and 1971. He enjoyed his collection of items related to Corvettes, golfing, and horses, especially racing. He is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived and missed dearly by his loving wife Karlene of Rockford, IL; stepfather to Alan (Laura) Duschen, Lorn (Carla) Duschen; he was papa to his loving grandchildren Joshua Duschen; Amber Nichols, Katie Gianone; Tyler Duschen; great-grandchildren Jayden & Averi; sisters Maryanne (Dan); Janie (Ron) and several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at a later time. Cremation rites have been scheduled prior to services by Farrell Holland Gale Funeral Home of Stillman Valley, IL.
