Annie Darnell Townsend

Annie Darnell Townsend of Rockford departed this earthly life January 28, 2026. She was born September 5, 1955 in Jackson, MS the daughter of Burnell and Lillie Townsend. Annie lived in Rockford since 2001 coming from Chicago. Annie was employed as a cashier by Kentucky Fried Chicken in Chicago and as a Dietary Aid by Peterson Meadows here in Rockford. She attended schools in Mississippi.

Annie leaves to cherish many loving memories, her two sons, Darren (Felicia) Townsend and Anthony Townsend; four daughters, Schakura Townsend, Nicole Townsend, Unique Townsend and Miesha Townsend; 22 grandchildren; a host great grandchildren; two sisters, Cheryl Townsend, and Shawn Townsend; four brothers, Johnnie Townsend, Robbie (Corita) Townsend, Kenneth Townsend and Ronald Townsend; a host of nieces, nephews cousins other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents; three grandchildren; two sisters, Jeanette Townsend and Patricia Townsend; two brothers Barney Ray Townsend and Timothy Townsend.

Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 10, 2026 at Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home Inc. 200 N. Johnston Ave. Visitation will be held 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
