Robert "Bobby" Ray Ruffin

Robert “Bobby-Fox” Ray Ruffin, 84, of Sims passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, November 1, 2025. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Bailey Baptist Church, 6646 Deans Street, Bailey. Rev. Daniel Blackburn will officiate.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:15 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. at Bailey Baptist Church in the fellowship hall and other times at the family home.

Bobby is survived by his three loving children, Debbie Mason, Randy Ruffin (Denise), and Sharon Ruffin. He was also a loving “Pa” to six grandchildren; Kristen Lamm, Jennifer Christianson, Matthew Ruffin, Michael Hall, Clayton Jones, and Tyler Ruffin and twelve great grandchildren. Bobby is also survived by his two brothers, Billy Ruffin (Carolyn) and David Ruffin (Annie) and his faithful dog Amy.

He was preceded in death by “the love of his life”, wife Peggy Ruffin; parents John William and Della Ruffin, and sister, Hildred Hutchins.

Bobby lived a life of service to his church and community. He retired from Nash County Schools and was the owner of Small Town Video and a Town of Sims Commissioner. He was a lifetime member of Bailey Baptist Church where he was a deacon and served on various committees. Coaching softball was his passion, and he mentored several young men and taught them many life lessons. He loved fishing with family and friends and was a faithful Tarheel fan.
