Robert Edward Borland passed away peacefully at home on November 15, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born to the late James and Louise Borland, Robert was also predeceased by his beloved sister, Marie Condon. He is survived by his devoted wife of 64 years, Carol R. Borland (née Regester); his loving son, Michael R. Borland; and his cherished grandchildren, Sebastian G. Borland and Violet S. Borland. Robert was a treasured uncle to many adored nieces and nephews and a well-loved friend and neighbor to countless others whose lives he touched with warmth, humor, and generosity.
Robert proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps in the late 1950s and especially cherished the reunions he shared over the years with fellow Marines from the “bird cage.” After his military service, he began a distinguished career with the Maryland State Police in the 1960s. In the 1970s, he worked as an agent for the Prudential Insurance Company and later contributed many years of dedicated service to the Baltimore County Bureau of Utilities during the 1980s and 1990s. Throughout his working life, Robert found great satisfaction in building and construction, particularly when working alongside his uncle, Charles Milke. He also enjoyed restoring classic cars from the 1950s, taking great pride in bringing them back to life. In his later years, he deeply enjoyed spending time working with his son on their farm in Queenstown, Maryland. Above all, Robert found his greatest joy in time spent with his family—most especially his grandchildren, whom he adored.
A visitation and funeral service honoring the life of Robert Borland will be held at Lassahn Funeral Home, 7401 Belair Rd., Nottingham, MD, on Thursday November 20th with visitation beginning at 10am and the funeral service beginning at 12pm. Interment will follow at Gardens of Faith Cemetery.
