George Robert Bowen, 75, of Newburgh, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, at Heart to Heart Hospice in Evansville, Indiana. He was born on March 14, 1947, in Emma Township, the son of Carl and Rosalyn (York) Shaw. Bob married Maudell Bullard in 1967, and she preceded him in death on August 20, 2022. Bob proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1967-1970. He retired after working as Chief Probation Officer for the 2nd Judicial Circuit for 23 years. Bob loved being on the water, whether it be boating, snorkelling, or fishing. He enjoyed being outdoors and bird watching.
Bob is survived by his son, Todd (Andria) Bowen of Nicosia, Cyprus; two grandchildren, Olga and Magdalena Bowen; a brother, Jack Bowen of Bowling Green, KY; nephews; George Bowen of Bowling Green, KY, Billy Brown of Carmi, IL and Brandon Bowen of Bowling Green, KY; and his niece, Sarah Brown of Newburgh, IN. In addition to his wife, Maudell Bowen, George is preceded in death by his parents Carl Bowen and Rosalyn Shaw.
Funeral services for George Robert Bowen will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi, with burial at Union Ridge Cemetery, with full military rites provided by the Carmi American Legion and VFW. Family and friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until time of service on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Indiana Audubon Society and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home.
