Dear Joy, Lewis, Bob and families,
I was very saddened to get the phone call from Mary about your father's passing. I have many memories of Uncle Robert and Aunt Eileen as I was growing up but probably my favorite was visiting your family in Tipp City. They both made me feel very special in their own way! As we all ran around your yard playing tag, your dad would scare us by jumping out of a bush! Every time we came around to the backyard, he would be in a different place! He would jump out, I would scream and run as fast as I could! Your mom made me feel special by making sure she cooked some of my favorite food. After eating, she would do something with all of us. She would read us a story or we would do an activity!
As years have passed, memories of family weddings, funerals, a Birthday (now and then), and phone calls have kept us updated on various family affairs! We certainly do have some stories to tell!
My two favorite memories from recent years:
Your family making the long trip to attend my mother's 90th Birthday Party! What a special day that was for a sister and brother to share!
Lastly, when I made the day trip to visit with Uncle Robert at Brookhaven. I received three bonuses that day. Ann, Bob, and of course you Joy, made it so much fun telling stories, me getting advice from Uncle Robert, and some good laughs! I even got to sit on your father's lap like I had when I was young!
Uncle Robert was a special person and will be missed by everyone who had the fortune and privilege of knowing him. He had the stern demeanor of his father but was a teddy bear inside!
With heartfelt sympathy to the entire family and a saddened heart,
Marne
