Robert Brown Obituary

Robert H. Brown, a beloved figure in his community and a dedicated family man, passed away on January 27, 2026 along with his son, Bradley Brown, in Coldwater, Mississippi, at the age of 75. Born on September 10, 1950, in Laurel, Mississippi to Admiral Dewey Brown, Sr. and Ethel McFarland Brown. Robert lived a life full of service, hard work, and love.

Robert was a retired mechanic, welder, and industrial and computer maintenance worker. Throughout his career, he held various roles in repair shops, a brewery, a bakery, a soap manufacturer, and a publisher. However, it was at FedEx, where he found his true calling until he retired in 2019. His dedication to his work was evident; he took immense pride in every task he undertook.

An active member and deacon at several churches in Northern Mississippi and Memphis over the decades, Robert embraced his faith wholeheartedly. In later years, as mobility challenges arose, he continued to serve God in whatever capacity he could, embodying a spirit of resilience and commitment.

Known for his remarkable ability to fix nearly anything with an engine, Robert was a true craftsman. He enjoyed his retirement on his 60 acres of paradise, surrounded by the beauty of nature, which reflected his deep-rooted love for the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and embraced the outdoor lifestyle, relishing the tranquility it offered him.

Robert proudly served his country in the U.S. Army as an E4 Chinook mechanic from 1970 to 1972, exemplifying his spirit of service both in his military career and beyond.

He is survived by his son, Lonnie A. Brown and wife, Rachel of Ledyard, CT; his brother, Admiral Dewey "Butch" Brown, Jr. and wife, Sandra of Eunice, LA; and his grandchildren, Shay Brown and Locke Brown of Ledyard, CT. He is also remembered fondly by many nieces, nephews, and generations beyond.

Robert is preceded in death by his parents, Admiral Dewey Brown, Sr. and Ethel McFarland Brown; his sister, Kathleen Brown Sturdivant; his son, Richard Dewey Brown; and his wife, Dianne Trest Brown.

The impact Robert had on those around him will be cherished and remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of hard work, faith, and love for family will continue to inspire future generations.
