Robert “Buck” B. Garin, age 62, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, surrounded by family. Buck was born on June 13, 1962, in Minneapolis to Bob and Kay Garin. The family moved to Crosslake in 1972, where he remained a lifelong resident.
Buck dedicated 32 years of his life to the Crosslake Fire Department, serving his community with pride. He began his career in the propane industry at just 18, working alongside his father, and continued at AmeriGas Propane until his retirement in 2021.
Buck lived life to the fullest, cherishing time spent with family, friends, fishing, and hunting. He especially loved summers at the family spot on Lake Vermilion, fishing on both Lake Vermilion and Lake of the Woods, and participating in fishing tournaments. A diehard Minnesota Wild fan, Buck held season tickets and enjoyed cheering on his team.
Known as the life of the party, Buck loved Windsor 7’s, Coors Light, and rocking out to classic tunes—often with an air guitar in hand for the lucky audience.
Buck was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Karla; his children, Whitney and Andrew; his granddaughter and pride and joy, Lilly; his sister, Cindy (Blaine); and his nephews, Evan and Nolan (Claire).
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Kay Garin.
While Buck wasn’t looking for a cat, after his mother passed, Buddy moved in. He hadn’t planned on a “fur-mate,” but soon the two became inseparable. Over the years, they shared couch space, snacks, and secrets. As Buck would have said, sometimes the best things in life are the ones you didn’t even know you needed.
