Robert Dale Buhlig

Robert Dale Buhlig (Bob), age 91, of Kearney, Missouri, died at home, as was his wish, on January 8, 2026.
Bob was born August 14, 1934, in Higginsville, Missouri. He married the love of his life, Nina Fern Evans of Bristle Ridge, Missouri, in June of 1957. They were married for nearly fifty-six years until Fern's passing in 2013. Together, Bob and Fern built a life. By 1958 they were living in Germany, courtesy of the United States Army. Following Bob's honorable discharge from the army, they moved to the Kansas City, Missouri, area and eventually became part of the Kearney, Missouri, community. Always independent and entrepreneurial, Bob's interesting career included home building and remodeling, owning and managing rental properties, owner and operator of the Hospitality Inn in Kearney, a restaurant that eventually became a bed and breakfast. In his retirement Bob enjoyed making wood crafts and selling them at area craft shows. Along the way Bob and Fern raised three boys, Mike (Maria), Mark (Marilyn), and Mitch (Dori). Bob leaves behind 13 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
Busy until the very end, Bob enjoyed building things, fixing things, Royals baseball, Chiefs football, traveling to Branson with Fern and family, and coffee with his cronies. He was an active leader of several churches during his life, the last of which was Christ's Fellowship, Kearney, Missouri. He leaves his family and friends a legacy of creative problem solving, perseverance, and a deep faith in God.
