Karen Watson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hidden Valley Funeral Home of Kearney from Feb. 9 to Feb. 14, 2026.
Karen Audrey Watson, 79, of Coppell, Texas, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 7, 2026 after battling glioblastoma.

Karen was born on August 11, 1946, in Carrollton, Missouri, to Aubrey Sterling Houseworth and Mildred Lucille Houseworth. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Barbara Ann Houseworth, and her beloved husband, Richard T. Watson. Karen is survived by her daughters, Allison Rohrer and her husband, Jan; Rachel Sarig and her husband, Amnon; her sister, Patricia Dickson and her husband, Don; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Karen devoted herself lovingly to her two daughters and cared for her husband, Richard, a U.S. Secret Service Agent, for 27 years following his heart transplant until his passing in 2013-a testament to her unwavering commitment and compassion. Karen and Richard (Dick) were high school sweethearts and had their first date on Valentine's Day in 1963. They were married on August 21, 1966.

A woman of remarkable talents, Karen was a gifted singer, artist, and writer. Karen's faith was central to her life, and she was deeply committed to her religious studies. Both of her daughters inherited her passion for music, and she always supported any of their dreams. She enjoyed working at Macy's, where she made many lasting friendships. She had a deep love for animals of all kinds and was known for her generous spirit. Karen cherished traveling and especially enjoyed spending time in Europe with her daughters. She also had an appreciation for nature and enjoyed visiting the mountains and gardening. Karen had many loyal friends, and her door was always open to any of them.

A graveside service for the interment of ashes will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at Oak Hill Cemetery in Carrollton, Missouri. A memorial service and reception will follow at 4:00 p.m. at La Bella Hall, 5 South Main Street, Carrollton, MO 64633. Donations to any local animal shelter in Karen's honor would be welcomed.
