James Watson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by The Springs Funeral Services - Platte on Mar. 11, 2026.
James Moore Watson, 94 of Colorado Springs, Colorado, passed away on February 1, 2026, from Cancer, surrounded by his loving family.

James, known to many as "Jimmy," was born August 18, 1931 in Palo Alto, California, the son of James Avery Watson and Frances Madiline Moore. He graduated from Piedmont High School and later attended the University of California, Berkeley, where he earned a degree in Geological Engineering.

He joined the United States Navy in 1952 and served honorably during the Korean War, completing eight years of service.

In 1960, James married Patsy Charleen Thomas in Bakersfield, California, moved to Mountain View, and during their 20 years of marriage, welcomed one daughter, Laura Nanette Watson. Together, his family camped, hiked, went skiing, swam in the ocean, explored mines in the High Sierras, and traveled extensively around the world and even resided in Iran for several years.

Jimmy worked as an Electrical Engineer for NSA, SRI, Shell, Fairchild, and additional Contracted Services, and retired early to pursue his love of adventure while living in California, before later moving to Colorado Springs to be closer to family.

Jimmy especially enjoyed sharing his love for adventure, jeeping, dancing, participating in club activities, road trips, cruise travel, and rock hounding for minerals and gems, with his treasured companion, Marion.

Those remaining to cherish Jimmy's memory are his daughter, Laura (her late husband Clinton) Hensley; his grandson, Thomas (Erin) Hensley; his beloved of 20 years, Marion Muhme; and his stepdaughter, Ann (Kathy) Muhme.

The Navy Honors Ceremony and Committal Service will be held Friday, March 20, 2026, at 12:00PM at The Pikes Peak National Cemetery,

A Celebration of Life will follow on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at 1:00PM at the Fraternal Order of the Eagles #3260, located at 1830 N Academy Blvd, Colorado Springs, Colorado, 80909.
