It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our son, Russell George Shaiffer, on February 18, 2026. Born December 8, 1976.
He is survived by his father, George; sisters, Lori (Keith) and Susan; brother, David; sister-in-law Vicki; plus, numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Ken, and sister, Lynn.
As a youth, Russ was active in Boy Scouts, achieving the rank of Eagle Scout, and was a member of the Order of Arrow, Ha-Kin-Skay-A-Ki Lodge #387. Russ was a Scout Master of Troop #39. He lived the Boy Scout Creed & Laws.
Russ was very service minded Volunteer who always came early to set up and stayed late to take down the activities and inspired those around him to be involved in helping serve in the various activities with him. He provided transportation for those that needed it and was always ready to help his friends & families move in town or across the country. He helped his father with his Rocketry hobby.
As a member of Open Bible Baptist Church, he did many volunteer jobs: Deacon, handyman, computer tech, choir, Children's Church, Vacation Bible School, Medical Clinic, once a month Saturday Pantry and managed a Food Pantry every Thursday evening where his purpose was providing the homeless with something for their head & for their heart (the Gospel), something for their hands (pantry foods) & something hot to eat.
As a member of Grace Mountain Church, he was the computer tech, volunteered in the Grace Mountain Pantry. On Sundays, he did the Worship service slideshows and led Afterthoughts. On Monday nights, he led the Essentials Bible Study. He also led a monthly Saturday morning men's breakfast, and the Hope Kids Dinner once a month. He was vice president of a Gideon camp.
Russ was a Board member of Come to Christ non-profit organization which helps those in need. He was active in the Tuesday Whole Hearted Men's Breakfast hosted by the Road Church. He was a volunteer tutor at Salvation Army and helped various homeless outreaches, helped serve for the Friends of Christ Soup Kitchen, helped at the Warming Shelter at The Sanctuary Church, helped Family Life Services clean a church property, helped Habitat for Humanity, and Santa Bob Telmosse' Christmas Give-Away, 2025.
Cherished for His kindness, wisdom, and unwavering support, he touched the lives of all who knew him. His legacy will live on through the memories we hold and the love that continues to inspire us each day. We celebrate his life, remembering the joy, laughter, and compassion he shared with everyone around him. Russell was a devoted Christian who loved Jesus and was willing to share knowledge of Jesus and the Bible with others.
Russ graduated from Widefield High School, attended Pikes Peak Community College for first two years, transferred to UCCS and completed a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science from Colorado Technical University. He was a teacher at Goal High School helping and encouraging students to be successful, not only in studies, but also in life.
Memorial Service-For Russell Shaiffer at Grace Mountain Church at 3195 Airport Road on Saturday March 14th at 11 a.m. Best access to the church parking lot is to approach the church heading north on Chelton Road.
