He was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Catherine (McNeill) Watson; and brother, Timothy Watson.
Mark is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Patricia (Treadwell) Watson; children, Valerie Watson and Mark Watson, II; granddaughter, Ocean Watson; sisters, Rebecca Snyder (Gilbert) and Mary Pew (Ken); brothers, Phillip Watson (Maureen), Thomas Watson (Celina), and Steve Watson (Michele Bryan); sisters-in-law, Suzanne Roiger (Richard), Janice Burzlaff (Steve), and Katherine Caswell; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Born in Scottsbluff, NE he was a US Army Veteran. Mark was Pat's best friend. He was also a journalist, a lawyer, a writer of fiction. He was passionate about politics, Constitutional law, and a free press. Mark had a unique sense of humor that kept family members on their toes and strangers confused. He passed from this Earth in his favorite spot, sitting on the back porch, enjoying the sun and blue sky, with the sounds of his wind chimes, and train horns in the distance.
His funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Monday, March 16, 2026 at Owen Funeral Home-Jeffersontown, 9318 Taylorsville Rd. with burial to follow in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of service Monday at Owen Funeral Home-Jeffersontown.
