William Brickell Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by The Springs Funeral Services - Platte on Mar. 11, 2026.
William "Bill or Billy "John Brickell II, 70, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2026 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Bill was born in Colorado Springs on March 26, 1955, to Brindy "Brenda" and William "Bill" Brickell. He was the oldest of seven children and lived in his childhood home for the majority of his life. He graduated from Coronado High School in 1974. While in high school, he participated in wrestling, gymnastics, track, and student council. Shortly after high school, he started his career as a printing press operator. He worked for McGraw-Hill Printing and Fittje Brothers Printing Company. Bill was a proud "westsider" and enjoyed attending Territory Days and other annual Old Colorado City and Downtown festivals. He also had a passion for fishing, drawing, painting, sewing, and refinishing furniture. Bill was an animal-lover and an encyclopedia of knowledge about nature. He loved history, particularly the Civil War Era, and all things Western. Bill was preceded in death by his mother and father. He is survived by his children, Autum (Dustin) Reed, Amanda "Mandy" Hutchinson, and William "Jesse" (Tiffany) Brickell. He is also survived by his siblings, Wesley (Ruby), Guy (Lynette), Mary Helen Boffey, Greg (Connie), Richard "Dick or Dicky" (Cathy), and Becky (Tim) Crippen. Bill was a proud grandfather to ten grandchildren who lovingly called him "Gramps": Michael "Mikey", Josiah "Joey", Cameron, Kylie, Layla, Cash, William "James", Jackson, Mia, and Tessa. If you would like to send gifts or condolences, the family is requesting potted flowers to be planted in his gardens or gift cards for home improvement stores to be used to improve the Brickell home. If you would like to donate on his behalf, please send it to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. The celebration of life will take place at a later date. Contact Jesse Brickell (719-329-4973) if you would like to receive information about Bill's celebration of life.
