Earlene Toth Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by The Springs Funeral Services - Platte on Mar. 11, 2026.
Earlene Rachel "Sue" Toth, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, in Peyton, Colorado. She was born on Thursday, March 17, 1938, in Whiteville, North Carolina to Dorotha Thompson.

She married the love of her life, James "Jim" Charles Toth Sr. on February 25, 1964.

Sue was a sailor's wife and had to hold down the household when Jim was out to sea as a submariner. As a good, southern woman, Sue loved to show her love through food. Her kitchen was always abuzz in activity whether she was making a meal, baking a goodie, or passing down a recipe. Sue was an avid slot machine enthusiast and typically defied the odds with her ability to bring home more money than she took with her. On the rare occasion that she did not do too well, she would exclaim that she "lost her shirt". Sue also enjoyed a fairly strong candy habit that thrilled her grandkids to no end because she always had various jars of candy at the ready in her living room. Later in life, Sue continued to love to spend time with family and enjoyed watching the game show network with a few of her favorites being Family Feud, The Wall, and Press Your Luck. Sue passed knowing both the love of Jesus and her family. She was not afraid of death and looked forward to being reunited with her loving husband. Her family will miss her dearly and wishes her "No Whammies" and favorable spins at the heavenly slots.

Sue is preceded in death by her husband Jim, mother Dorotha, her sister Pearl, and her bother Paul.

Those left to cherish Sue's love and memories are her son, James Toth Jr. and his wife Karen; two daughters, Robin Bennett and Stacy Shaver and her husband Lee; her sister Meryl Staller and her husband Marvin; grandchildren: James, Christopher, Patrick, Ryan, Kennedy, and James Dean, and her great grandchildren: Jeremy, Alexander, Alexia, and Celes. Sue's life would also not be complete without her extended family and numerous friends.

Graveside services for Sue will take place on Friday, March 13, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at Pike's Peak National Cemetery with Pastor Skip Banks officiating.
