Larry Brown Obituary

Larry Del Brown, affectionately known to all as “LB,” passed away unexpectedly on March 6, 2026, while traveling home from a memorable cruise with his sweetheart, Pat.

Larry lived a life full of service, rhythm, laughter, and adventure. Born on May 1, 1946, in Seattle, Washington, to Ferryl and Jack Brown, Larry grew up in the Pacific Northwest. He attended school in Seattleand then later answered the call to serve his country. Larry joined the Army and completed basic training in Georgia. He was transferred to Alaska—a decision that began a proud 20-year military career spanning the Army, CO Air National Guard, Air Force Reserves, and the UT Air National Guard Reserves.

Larry’s career was often centered around his love for bowling. Initially in Washington and later in Colorado with the Brunswick Corporation, he managed several centers. While working at Circle Lanes in Colorado Springs, he met Patricia Collins. In a move that perfectly captured his style, he asked her out on his birthday. They dated for ten years before marrying on December 3, 1988, beginning a nearly 40-year partnership filled with lifelong friends, bowlingtournaments and vacations across the country. Larry was an exceptionally talented bowler with several 700 series and a 300 game.

In 1996, Larry and Pat moved to Utah. Larry began a career with Mortgage Computer, where he was an implementation manager and trainer traveling the country training employees on their software. This role ignited a deep love for travel (especially cruising) that continued well into his retirement, as he and Pat explored new corners of the world together.

Music was the heartbeat of Larry’s life. He loved all kinds of music, except Rap. A gifted guitarist, he formed the "Ridge Runners" in Colorado Springs, playing everywhere from local hayrides to rowdy barsand even weddings. His faith and his music were also deeply intertwined; he served as a musician at Holy Apostles Catholic Church in CO for 15 years and then at St. James Catholic Church in Ogden for 25+ years before becoming a member of Holy Family Catholic parish in Ogden. He drew constant inspiration from his idols, Tommy Emmanuel, Chet Atkins, Billy Strings, Jake Workmen, & Joe Robinson.

LB was truly the life of the party—a man of endless jokes, stories, and a genuine warmth and good nature that made everyone feel welcome.

He was a "12th Man" through and through, having been among the very first Seattle Seahawks season ticket holders, and he was thrilled to see them win it all this year. At home, he was a master of the grill & smoker. He was famous for his custom-made seasonings, prime rib, salmon, ribeye’s, ribs and his love of pizza and burritos. As a connoisseur of beer and wine, he didn’t just enjoy a drink—he knew the craft behind it, often making his own. He got several of his friends into making beer or wine over the years. He was very proud of his bar & to have visited over 390 microbreweries around the country with Pat as his chauffeur. He was also a highly skilled pool player, and could run a table with the best of them.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents and his step-brother, Stanley Brown.

He is survived by his loving wife, Pat (PB); his daughters, Laura (Bob) Harding and Monica (Steve) Spence; and his two grandchildren, Alana (Austin) Benson and Braven Spence, all of whom will miss his music, stories and his laughter.

Holy Rosary will be held Monday, March 16 at 6:00 p.m., followed by a visitation from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m., at Holy Family Catholic Church, 1100 East 5550 South, South Ogden. A visitation will be held Tuesday, March 17 from 10 to 10:45 a.m. followed by the funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, with a luncheon to follow at the Holy Family Social Hall.

Funeral will be live streamed here on Larry’s obituary page by scrolling to the bottom of the page.
