Robert Franklin Bumbaugh, 97, of Waynesboro, PA, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, November 13, 2025.

Born December 20, 1927, in Pen Mar, PA, Washington Township; he was the son of the late Bruce B. Bumbaugh and Elva M. (Whitmore) Bumbaugh.

He attended Washington Township school leaving at an early age to help support his family.

Robert had fond memories of working and spending time at Pen Mar Park until its closure.

When duty called, Robert served in the United States Army, active duty from March 12, 1952, to February 27, 1954. Following his active duty, Robert was transferred to reserve-duty for another 8 years.

After Robert's active duty he returned to his employer, Landis Machine Company in Waynesboro PA. He retired in 1993 with over 42 years of service. He was a member of the IAMAW Machinist Union.

Robert was a fine carpenter and handyman; always there to lend a hand when needed by family and friends.

He was a member of Welty Church of the Brethren of Greensburg, MD where he found his love of gospel music, participating in choir, quartets, and church activities.

Robert was also a multi-decade member of the Waynesboro Fish and Game Protective Association where he spent many Sunday mornings at the shooting range with his friends.

Robert was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Delores Jane (Bachtell) Bumbaugh whom he married on April 22, 1956. He was the last of seven children.

Robert is survived by his sons Steven L. Bumbaugh and wife Susan, Barry A. Bumbaugh and wife Michelle all of Waynesboro, PA; grandchildren Erica Henson (Dennis), Christie Hartley (Drew Kagle) and Cody Bumbaugh (Kira), great grandchildren Sage, Myles and Nia Henson, Dash and Talan Bumbaugh and Veda Kagle.

A special Thank You to the 2nd floor staff at the Colestock Center at Quincy for their compassionate care of Robert and his family during Robert's stay with them. Their kindness and compassion will never be forgotten.

As Per Robert's request there will be no public funeral. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
