Robert Bunting

Robert “Bob” Bunting, 58, passed away Saturday April 12, 2025. Bob grew up in Speedway, Indiana, the youngest of four children. He had many memories of a happy childhood with good friends. He attended Marian College where he completed his Bachelor of Arts degree. He then moved to Houston to attend the University of St. Thomas where he met his wife and completed a Master of Arts and PhD in Philosophy. Bob continued to learn throughout his life. After teaching logic and philosophy, he taught himself programming and networking and obtained numerous certifications.

Most recently, Bob worked at Doña Ana County for 17 years. Throughout his career, Bob worked with people from all walks of life, as he performed in different roles with varying levels of responsibility. From directing the Information Technology Department to partnering with state representatives and collaborating with work colleagues day-to-day, Bob brought his best self to every situation and interaction. Despite a quiet and unassuming demeanor, this humble soul cared deeply about others and helped whenever he could. Many of his colleagues considered him a friend and got to know him for his taste in music and sense of humor. He almost never missed an opportunity to enjoy Italian food, liked his coffee strong and his chocolate frequently. He generously shared snacks, coffee and pizza with colleagues.

When he found a bit of free time he read up on history, science and chess. He enjoyed brushing up on his Spanish and French and playing guitar and electric bass. He loved learning with and talking to his immediate and extended family. He truly dedicated his life to his family.

A serene, loving and generous husband and father, Bob is survived by his wife, Margarita and daughter, Kateri, who love him dearly and miss him greatly; by two sisters Susan Natal and Karen Carpenter of Indianapolis, Indiana; and by numerous sisters in law, nieces and nephews whom he cherished and who loved him back. He was preceded in death by both of his parents, Bill and Sally Bunting and his brother, Bill Bunting.

A small gathering will be held on Friday May 2 from 2:00 to 5:00 pm at Getz Funeral Home, 1410 E. Bowman Avenue.

The family kindly requests no flowers be sent due to allergies.  However remembrance contributions in his honor are accepted to help defray costs. 

So faith, hope, love remain, these three; but the greatest of these is love.
