Robert Dale Bussell, beloved husband, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully at his residence in Tifton, Georgia, on October 19, 2025, at the age of 68.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. at Pineview Holiness Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Mike Bennett officiating. Military honors will be rendered at the cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 P.M. at Albritton Funeral Directors before the service at the cemetery.
Born on February 10, 1957, in Tifton, he was the son of Henry Harding Bussell and Earline Miller Bussell Hickman. He graduated from Tift County High School in 1975 and furthered his education at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, laying the groundwork for a distinguished career as a truck driver for Orgill.
Robert proudly served in the United States Air Force for two years, where he was stationed at Andrews Air Force Base. It was here that he had the honor of being a guard for Air Force One during the administrations of Presidents Ford and Carter. One of the highlights of his military service was playing cards with Henry Kissinger while in flight on Air Force One, an experience he spoke fondly of.
In his personal life, Robert was a devoted husband to Jackie Jennings Bussell, with whom he shared forty-six wonderful years of marriage. Together, they created a warm and loving home filled with cherished memories and laughter. Robert was also a caring brother to Roger Bussell, Brenda O'Quinn, and Peggy Morris, and he held a special place in the hearts of several nieces and nephews.
Robert found joy in many pastimes; he was an avid chess player and had a passion for hunting and fishing. For over forty years, he and Jackie delighted in playing cards with their very special friends, Cliff and Judy Pate, forging bonds that would last a lifetime. He attended A’ Neway Baptist Church in Nashville, Georgia, where he contributed to his community and shared his faith.
He is survived by his wife, Jackie; his brother, Roger; his sisters, Brenda O’Quinn and Peggy Morris; several nieces and nephews; and dear friends Cliff and Judy Pate. He was preceded in death by his father, Henry Harding Bussell; his mother, Earline Miller Bussell Hickman; and his brother-in-law, Johnny O'Quinn.
Robert's warm spirit and loving presence will be profoundly missed by all who knew him. His legacy of kindness, devotion, and friendship will continue to resonate in the hearts of those whose lives he touched.
