Waylon was a studious student at Tift County High School, where he graduated in 2024. His love for learning and aspiration to become a doctor were evident throughout his academic journey, as he had attended Mercer University and Middle Georgia College with great enthusiasm. His teachers and peers recognized him for his exemplary character; he was known to be kind, caring, and sweet—traits that endeared him to everyone who crossed his path. His favorite saying was “I’ll figure it out”.
He is survived by his loving family, including his father and his wife, Shannon Clark and Ashley Marie Sumner, and mother, Heather LeeAnn Booth. Waylon shared a close bond with his siblings; he is mourned by his brothers, Jadon May, Landen Desjarlais, and Logan Sumner, as well as his sister, Bailie Sumner, along with his grandparents Becky and Ronnie Sumner and Paul Booth. Waylon’s memory will also be cherished by all who knew him, especially as they remember him for his gentle spirit and generosity.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Liam Woodruff. The love and support shared among Waylon’s family will always carry his memory, alongside the dreams he nurtured and the kindness he instilled in those around him.
Waylon’s visitation will be held at Macedonia Baptist Church in Chula, Georgia, on Saturday, March 7, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM. A graveside service will be conducted at Macedonia Baptist Church cemetery starting at 2:00 PM. His family invites all who knew him to attend and celebrate his life.
