Robert Walker Campbell
06/05/1957 - 10/24/2025
Robert Walker Campbell, 68, of Odessa, Texas, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2025, surrounded by family and friends who loved him dearly.
Born on June 5, 1957, in Tyler, Texas, to William R. and Caroline Campbell, Robert grew up in Tyler and Midland, graduating from Lee High School in 1975. He attended Texas A&M University, serving as Executive Officer for Squadron 15 in the Corps of Cadets in his senior year. He graduated with a degree in Agronomy in 1979, beginning what would become a lifelong career doing what he loved - caring for the land and the people who enjoyed it.
Over the course of 46 years, Robert served as a golf course superintendent at Hogan Park, Odessa Country Club, Ranchland Hills Country Club, Green Tree Country Club, Abilene Country Club, and the First Tee of West Texas. He also served as past president of the board for West Texas GCSAA. His dedication, craftsmanship, and quiet leadership left lasting marks not only on the greens he nurtured but also on the communities that gathered there.
On January 3, 1981, Robert married the love of his life, Cindy Ann Morgette. Together, they built a life full of love, laughter, and faith, raising four children - Daniel, Melanie, Aaron, and Bethany - who were the center of Robert's world.
Robert is survived by his loving wife, Cindy of Odessa; son Daniel Walker Campbell and his wife Ellen, along with their children Annie, Walker, and James; daughter Melanie Campbell Byrum and her husband David, with their children Ben and Abby; and daughter Bethany Campbell Lujan and her husband Alex, with their children Harper and Hudson.
He is also survived by his siblings Ray Campbell (Charlotte), Hugh Campbell (Lesa), Dianne Campbell Miller (Reuben), and Les Campbell (Jenny); father-in-law Jim Morgette; brother-in-law Bill Morgette (Shannon); sisters-in-law Pam Morgette Stacy (James) and Marla Morgette (Belinda Duke); and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Robert was preceded in death by his son William "Aaron" Campbell, his parents Bill and Caroline Campbell, and his mother-in-law Mary Morgette.
Those who knew Robert will remember his deep integrity, steady kindness, and devotion to his Savior, his family and his profession. He was a man of quiet humor, Godly wisdom, and a heart to share his love of Jesus Christ through word and deed.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Home Hospice and especially to nurse Yvonne for their compassionate care during his final days.
