Robert Canevari Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Simplicity: Lowcountry Cremation and Burial Services - Ladson on Dec. 3, 2024.
Robert (Bob) Canevari, 83, of Summerville, SC, entered into eternal rest on November 23, 2024. He is survived by his beloved "Annie" (Ann Marie Canevari). They were married for 58 years. He is also survived by his daughter, Lisa (Tavares), her husband, Ray Tavares, his grandchildren RJ, Jacqueline, Justin and their dog Fenway (his golf cart companion). He loved his grandchildren and made many fond memories with them on trips to Disney, baseball fields and brunch visits to Charleston. He overcame many medical challenges over the last twenty-two years to be at their milestone events.
Bob was originally from Milford, Connecticut, and was the son of Frank and Rose Canevari. He grew up with his three siblings (Frank, Patty and George) and after graduating from Milford High School, he served his country in the U.S. Navy. He shared many stories about his time in the service and his crew mates on the U.S.S. Essex. He was a longtime machinist working in the commercial plastics industry for much of his career. He took pride in his work and there was not a plastic mold he couldn't make.
He and Ann moved to their DelWebb Summerville residence twelve years ago and immediately became active members in their new community. He thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his fellow veterans, where he was part of the honor guard. He played bocce regularly and he and his wife were members of the Italian club.
He loved nature, birdwatching and was an avid craftsman. He took on many hobbies over the years including painting, making wood gifts for family and friends, working on intricate models and building and giving away little boats for ornaments which many of you likely have.
The family is deeply thankful for the talented teams at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) for the many years of support. Additionally, they are so appreciative to the wonderful professionals at the Lowcountry Hospice House, where he was able to be surrounded by family members including his favorite dog, Fenway.
A Catholic funeral mass will be held for Bob on Monday, December 9, 2024, at 11:00 am at Saint John the Beloved Catholic Church, in Summerville, SC. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Lowcountry Community Hospice House, in Summerville, SC
