Robert Caputo Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Carmona-Bolen Home for Funerals, LLC - Toms River on Feb. 14, 2026.
Robert Michael Caputo Sr., a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather and great-grandfather, hardworking business owner, and honored veteran, passed away peacefully on February 6, 2026, at the age of 78.

Born on Sept. 20,1947, in Long Branch NJ, Robert was the beloved son of Nicholas and Carmella Caputo. Robert graduated from Summit High School in 1965. He lived a life centered on hard work, responsibility, and family. As the owner of Robert Caputo Partners LLC, he was known for his strong work ethic and integrity. He took great pride in providing not only for his family but also in creating opportunities for those around him.

Above all, Robert poured his heart into his family, always making sure everyone was taken care of. He was a lifelong fan of the New York Yankees and found simple joy in spending Saturday afternoons at the Freehold Raceway, times he looked forward to every week.

A proud Army veteran, Robert served his country with honor stationed in Korea during the Vietnam War. His sense of duty, resilience, and love of country remained a defining part of who he was throughout his life. He carried those same values into his community, including the years he spent coaching Freehold Boro Little League and encouraging young athletes along the way.

He will be remembered for his quiet strength, generous heart, and the way he always showed up for the people he loved. Whether offering advice, helping when needed, or sharing a story, Robert made a positive impact on those around him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Ruthann Caputo; his children, Denise Caputo, Robert Caputo and wife Heili, Edward Fletcher and wife Jennifer, Jodi Alfonso and husband Victor, Lyle Caputo, Phil Caputo, and Staci Fletcher; his 15 grandchildren; his 6 great-grandchildren; and his sibling, John Caputo. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nicholas and Carmella Caputo, sibling Nicholas Captuo Jr.

A celebration of life will be held on March 8, 2026, 1p-3p at Veterans of Foreign Wars, Freehold, NJ.
