Robert Cardoni Obituary
Robert L. Cardoni (Bob, Rob, Rocco, PopPop) passed away after a valiant fight against cancer on May 16, 2024. He was cared for lovingly in his last days and leaves behind his wife, Mary Pat, his children Katie Brewer & husband Michael, Bobby Cardoni & wife Victoria, Andrew Cardoni & wife Vanessa, and Clare Cardoni, as well as his beloved granddaughters Eden & Evelyn Brewer.
Bob was born in Scranton, PA & moved to Mountainside NJ as a young child where he lived with his parents & 5 siblings until he went to college. He graduated from Mount St. Mary's College in Emmitsburg, MD with a degree in Accounting. He spent his career in public accounting, practicing primarily in Howard County. He was a founding partner of Cardoni Waddell, Inc in 1996, which merged with Dembo Jones Accounting firm in 2017. In 1997, he joined Raymond James Financial Services as a financial advisor. He retired from Dembo Jones in 2022 and subsequently established Chesapeake Wealth Advisors and Chesapeake Tax Services in Ellicott City.
Bob was a prominent figure in the Howard County business community and served on numerous local boards & community organizations throughout his career. He was an avid supporter of 'First Tee- Howard County,' an organization that promotes life-enhancing values to young people through the game of golf. He volunteered on the finance committees at Church of the Resurrection in Ellicott City and St. Martha's Episcopal Church in
Bethany Beach, DE. Additionally, he spent several years coaching at HCYP for his children's baseball and softball teams and volunteered with the Boy Scouts of America.
Bob was a man who lived and loved life and whose passion was 'people.' He was 'one of a kind' in the business world who treated his clients, colleagues, and fellow business leaders as his friends. He was known for his compassion, sense of humor, storytelling, and love of music – especially 'Classic Rock.' He loved making conversation with whoever he met – whether at a professional or social gathering, or with the 7-Eleven or WaWa cashier when he stopped for his morning coffee, the Waste Management truck driver in our neighborhoods, the maintenance personnel at his office building, the police officers at Bethany Beach, or members at the local gym.
He was a pillar of strength and a source of unwavering support for so many. His death leaves a large hole in our hearts and on the earth where he walked. 'We'll love you for always!'
