Robert Carney Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Affordable Burial & Cremation Service - Austin Area on Feb. 16, 2026.
Robert McCoy Carney, 75, of Leander Texas passed away on Dec. 26, 2025. A coffee gathering will be at

10:15 am & Memorial Service at 11:00 am, officiated by Pastor Trey Kent, at Northwest Fellowship

Church in Austin, Texas on Saturday February 21, 2026. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the

Northwest Fellowship Church in Austin, Texas. Robert was born on November 19, 1950 in Ferguson,

Missouri. He was the son of the late Casie McCoy Carney Jr. and Louise Elizabeth Wey Carney. He is

survived by a sister, Linda Ritchie of Indianapolis, IN, brothers Dale Carney, St. Louis MO and Doug

Carney and wife Susan, Marshall, MO along with nieces and nephews. Robert grew up in Florissant, MO

(suburb of St. Louis) He attended McClure High School and college at South West Missouri State

University in Springfield, MO. After college he moved to Boulder, Colorado and worked for Head Ski.

Loving this area, he then began his career as a computer programmer for IBM for which he worked for

many years. He also began a part time passion as a certified scuba diving instructor where he trained

over 100 people to dive safely. Robert traveled more miles than we will ever know on his bike, which he

loved so much. He loved to keep in shape and also loved running, The Running Club, exercising in the

gym, listening to music and reading! Throughout all this time he continued to enjoy skiing in the

mountains and the natural beauty that surrounded him. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting and

fishing. He was also a Tae Kwon Do enthusiast. He was so health conscious before it was even popular.

Robert made his move from Colorado to Texas and the rest is history for many of you. You all have

become friends and even family to him through the years as he found and grew to love his Northwest

Fellowship Church and the wonderful Men's Ministry group. So as you know the priority in Robert's life

was his relationship with the Lord. He was so proud of being a member and felt it totally changed his

life. He was prepared to go to Heaven and live with the Lord. He enjoyed the companionship,

camaraderie caring attitudes while sharing stories about his beliefs and hearing about others as well. He

is at peace and is in his eternal home with his Lord and Savior.
