Robert F. Case, DVM, a resident of South Port Square, Port Charlotte, Florida, died February 5, 2026, at the age of 88. He was the son of the late Frederick V. Case and Esther Rudebock Case. Dr. Case was a graduate of the Cornell University's College of Veterinary Medicine. He served as a veterinarian in the U.S Army, attaining the rank of Captain, and was honorably discharged in July of 1969.

He was a long-time resident of Colonie, New York where he worked first in a private veterinary setting, and later with the New York State Department of Health where he worked to ensure the safety of laboratory animals. He served in leadership roles for a number of professional organizations, chairing the Committee on Animal Welfare of the American Veterinary Medical Association, and as the President of the NYS Veterinary Medical Society in 1984. He was on the Board of Directors of the Animal Protective Foundation of Schenectady, NY serving as a President for three years. He was later President of the then newly established Capital District Animal Emergency Clinic in Lathan, NY. He was also active in the local Rotary and Kiwanis Clubs.

Dr. Case retired to Florida in 1999. While residing at the South Port Square retirement community, he served as President of the Resident Council. He was an avid sports lover and enjoyed playing golf.

Dr. Case is survived by his wife Nancy, a son Robert F., II (Andrea Souto), and a daughter Kristin Case Lawrence (Jeffrey Lawrence), three grandsons, Grayson and Spencer Lawrence and Danilo Case, and one granddaughter, Audrey Case. Their daughter, the late Kimberly Gates, predeceased him.

A Service commemorating his life will be help as Peace River Baptist Church, Punta Gorda, FL. Burial will be at Memory Gardens, Albany, NY.

The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to Tidewell Hospice for their compassionate care, support and dedication during Bob's final days.
