Robert Castiglia Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Meyers Funeral Home, Ltd. on Oct. 12, 2024.
Albany - With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Robert ( Robbie, Caz) Castiglia on October 8, 2024. Robert is predeceased by his father, Robert Castiglia and mother Eileen (Cookie) Barrett.
Robbie was born on August 4, 1963 in Schenectady NY. He was a graduate of Mount Pleasant High School. While in high school he developed a love for basketball and played on the varsity team. Robbie is most proud of his time serving in the U.S. Army, where he made lifelong friendships and memories. Following the military he spent many years living in Pensacola Florida, where he picked up a slight accent and southern charm. He had a kind and gentle soul, and the biggest heart. During his life he held many positions in the restaurant industry, and enjoyed cooking.
Robbie is survived by his step mother Marie Castiglia, brother Richard (Marie) Castiglia. Sisters Shelly Castiglia and Christina (Luigi) Spezio. He leaves behind his aunts, Joyce Foote and Carol Barrett, many cousins, nieces and nephews. Holding a special place in his heart are his cousins, Joey and Frankie, who were like brothers to him. Robert leaves behind many friends that he loved and cared deeply for, including his best friends, Joey Barbagallo and Joe Zayszly.
Robbie will be missed by all but we take comfort in knowing he is at peace now. Our family would like to thank the staff at the VA hospital, who have been by our side throughout this difficult time. We especially want to thank Joy, Sierra and Alanzo for the special care they gave Robert. In lieu of flowers the family is asking to make a donation in Robert's name to the VA hospital in Albany NY.
