Robert L. "Bob" Cayse, Sr., a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2025, in Wilmington, North Carolina, at the age of 86. Born on August 28, 1939, in Hamilton, Ohio, Bob lived a life filled with dedication, service, and love for his family and country.

Bob proudly served in the United States Navy for three years as a dental technician, stationed in Bethesda, MD and was assigned to the White House during the Kennedy and Johnson administrations. During this time, he had the distinguished honor of providing dental care to notable figures, including Jackie Kennedy, whom he served before her departure from the White House.

Following his military service, Bob built a successful career as a sales representative and eventually a manager for a dental equipment and merchandise company. Upon retirement, he and his beloved wife, Janet, embarked on a new venture, owning and operating a gas station and convenience store, where they shared their warmth and kindness with the community.

An avid outdoorsman, Bob found great joy in fishing and hunting. He was also known for his skillful handiwork, often found fixing things around the house or working on home improvement projects, including building an addition to their home, which stood as a testament to his industrious spirit and love for creating lasting memories with his family.

Bob's life was rooted in family and community, having lived in Hamilton, Ohio; Trussville, Alabama; Canton, Georgia; and Wilmington, North Carolina. He is preceded in death by his parents, Emmanuel J. Sr. and Dorothy Pearl Cayse, and his siblings, Ruby Peters, Rosella Mae Gentry, Emmanuel Cayse Jr., and Elsie Chapman.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Janet K. Cayse; his children, Gayle Briggs and her husband Curtiss, Robert "Lee" Cayse, Jr. and his wife Shannon, and Connie Horan and her husband Stephen; and his treasured grandchildren, Haley Bridge, Robert Lee "Trey" Cayse, III, Tucker Cayse, and Stephen "Cayse" Horan. Bob also leaves behind his sister, Delores Campbell, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss him dearly.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during a visitation at the Wilmington Funeral Chapel on Saturday, September 27, 2025, from 1-2 pm, followed by a funeral service at 2 pm. Bob will be laid to rest at the Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests donations be made to Tunnel to Towers, supporting veterans and first responders, in memory of Bob's commitment to service and community, please see link below.

Bob's life was one of integrity, hard work, and unconditional love for those around him. His legacy will continue to inspire all who were fortunate to know him.
