ROBERT CHITEL Obituary

CHITEL, Robert Ira Passed away on July 26, 2023, at the age of 80. Born on September 5, 1942, in Boston, MA, to Benjamin Chitel and Janice Nadelman Chitel, Bobby attended grade school in Brighton, MA, later graduating from Babson College in 1963. Out of college, Bobby departed Boston for the Big Apple where he worked for Shepard Clothing, remaining there for over 35 years before embarking on related entrepreneurial ventures. In addition to his professional pursuits, Bob regularly donated to charities that were important to him, including Toys for Tots. On October 27, 1968, he wed Linda Joan Ormand (Oumano), to whom he remained married until her passing on December 17, 2003. Bobby & Joanie chose the small NJ town of Old Tappan in which to raise their two boys. They spent 25 years in "O.T." As a devoted father, he always supported and encouraged his sons' natural musical, academic, and athletic interests and was widely loved by their friends and classmates. Bob and Joan are survived by their sons, David Chitel (wife Cristina Davila Chitel) and Douglas Chitel (husband Alex Liandro); and their grandsons, Andrew Chitel and Matthew Chitel. He was predeceased by his sister, Elaine Evons. Bob will forever be treasured as a one-of-a-kind force of nature, full of vitality, great instincts, an incredible sense of caring, and magic superpowers that allowed him to connect in-depth, very quickly, with his fellow human beings. Once Bobby was in your life, he was there for life as anyone who knew and loved him will attest. Donations may be made to the American Lung Association.
