Robert D. Christy

APPLEGATE- Robert D. Christy, age 88, a resident of Applegate passed away on Friday, May 31, 2024 at Autumnwood of Deckerville.
He was born on September 4, 1935 in Detroit, a son of the late Daniel and Erva (Smith) Christy. Bob proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy and was stationed in Germany, his last assignment was in Bremerhaven. He returned home to farm and married Mary "Jamie" Willis.
Bob enjoyed farming, trucking, traveling and woodworking. Bob also enjoyed the wildlife in his yard, especially watching the birds. Bob greatly enjoyed his lunch everyday at the Carsonville Hotel, which consisted of a cheese burger and was made and waiting for him when he arrived daily.
He is survived by his three children, Todd Christy of Carsonville, Liza (Wayne) LaPan of Birch Run and Robert Christy of Carsonville; seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren; one sister, Geralyn Williams of Centennial, Colorado.
Bob was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Liza Christy, his ex-wife and good friend, Mary Christy-Hodges in 2022, his son Scott Christy in 2023 and his brother, Dale Christy.
Visitation will be from 3-8 P.M. on Monday at the Pomeroy Funeral Home in Carsonville. Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. on Tuesday at the funeral home, with visiting from 10-11 A.M., Bob's nephew Rev. Andrew Willis will officiate. Interment will follow in the Washington Cemetery in Carsonville. Military Honors will be provided by the Croswell American Legion.
The family would like to thank Vickie Anderson and Linda Conley for their wonderful care for their father while he was at home and Bea at Autumnwood in Deckerville for her wonderful care and friendship with Bob while he was there.
