Mr. Clary was an incredible teacher who no doubt phenomenally influenced my understanding and appreciation of math. He also was a man with a big heart. I remember him sharing stories of his youth and encouraging his classes to give generously in the can food drive at Perry Hall High School without seeking credit. He left a great impact on me academically and ethically. He will surely be missed by the untold numbers he unquestionably impacted for the better.

Cathy,
We have been out of touch for a long time, but certainly have many fond memories that began in elementary school and extended beyond our years at Towson State. I was shocked to learn of Bob's passing. My friend Carmella Walls (Bruce's wife) happened to mention to me that she was going to a funeral mass tomorrow. You can imagine my surprise that it was for someone we both knew. I knew what a great educator Bob was through his reputation. The many wonderful comments from his students reflected how very respected and beloved he was. I recall from the last time I ran into you how very happy you were and what a truly blessed marriage the two of you shared. I am so very sorry for your loss.

Mrs. Clary,
You were my kindergarten teacher, I think the first year you taught, and Mr. Clary was my principal at St. Stephens. He gave me the nick name "Collision" since I was always running into something (and still am!). Y'all made wonderful impressions on me as a young child growing and learning.
I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers.

Sorry to hear of the loss of your father. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
When someone we love dies it seems as if time stands still.and silence ..a quiet sadness ..often can be felt, not just heard,a longing for one more day ..one more word ..one more touch ..and we may not understand why God chose to have him leave this earth so soon,or why he had to leave before we ready to say goodbye, but little by little,we will begin to remember not just that he died, but that he lived.and that his life gave us memories too beautiful to forget.we will see him again someday, in a heavenly place where there is no parting. A place where there are no words that mean goodbye

I first met Mr. Clary as a freshman. I was always in trouble, so I was always in and out of his office. His nick name for me was excuses, because I always had an excuse why I being in trouble was not my fault. I never took responsibility for my actions and it was never my fault. Even though I was always in trouble Mr. Clary always seemed to care about me and wanted me to succeed. He always gave me great advice, even if I didn't always want to hear or listen to it. Mr. Clary always encouraged me to do better, and he always believed in me even when others did not. Mr. Clary had a great personality and cared about his students. He pushed you to succeed and didn't let you just skate by. Mr. Clary taught me with hard work anything was possible. He believed I could be as successful a student as anyone else and he made me believe in myself. It's because of Mr. Clary that I changed my life around, and he is a big influence on me wanting to become an Educator. Thank you Mr. Clary I will never forget what you have done for me.

To Mr. Clary's family,
It has been over 30 years since Mr. Clary coached my softball teams. I have since become married, become a teacher, and have two beautiful daughters. My daughters share my same love of softball and I have coached them now for over 10 years on a variety of recreational and travel teams. When I step onto the field, I often think of the coaches I loved and admired as a child. The coaches that taught us the fundamentals, the coaches that expected us to do our best, the coaches that knew the value of teamwork and leading us by example, and, most importantly, the coaches that understood that we were girls, daughters, children who, at the end of the day, were playing a game. Mr. Clary was one of those coaches. There was so much to learn on those softball fields that went far beyond the rules of the game. I hope it helps you at this time to know that Mr. Clary's legacy lives on in all of the lives that he touched. Thank you for sharing him with me many, many years ago.

When I heard this news, I couldn't hold back the tears. I had Mr. Clary for 10th grade college algebra as well as AP calc the next year at PHHS. I was terrified of that first class from everything I'd heard about him. I will never forget that I got a 28% on my first test in his class, or the fear in my heart the first time I had to go up to the board to solve a problem... but I will also never forget the way he helped all of us turn those grades around and the way that fear diminished over the coming weeks. He didn't just teach us math – he taught us hard work, compassion, confidence and laughter. I can still see his smile and his signature hair flip and hear his voice today. I will never forget my favorite teacher and everything he gave me. My heart is with your family during this time. He was an amazing man.

Mr. Clary was my math teacher back in 10th grade. I am now a professional mathematician, due in no small part to his encouragement. He made a difference, and that's just about the highest praise I can give to anyone.

I had the privledge of having Mr Clary as a teacher. He was my favorite and he will always be remembered. I also had the experience of unfortunately being one of his nurses is his last few weeks that he was with us. I told him a little prayer in his ear and said it was Rusty (his nickname he gave me that I have always kept and cherished). May he rest in peace and may his family and friends find peace in his passing.

Teachers allow themselves and their personalities to be shared with students. Not only was I fortunate enough to have Mr. Clary as a math teacher my junior and senior years, but he was also my class advisor. He was spunky, funny, caring and always made you be your best, but was forgiving when you weren't. As a teacher, I tried to be that kind of role-model for my students. Men like Mr. Clary inspire generations. His love of students will live on in all of us who had him as a teacher. I will never forget his black jeans and white tennis shoes!
