Robert "Robbie" Cockrum, a beloved husband, son, father, brother, grandfather, nephew and uncle, passed away peacefully at his home in Ponca City on Saturday, May 24, 2025, with his wife by his side. Born on December 27, 1967 in Stillwater, Oklahoma, Robbie lived a life that exemplified love and dedication to his family, friends, and country.
Robbie grew up in Perry, Oklahoma for the better part of his childhood. He moved away in the 10th grade where he graduated from Frontier High School in 1986. He served in the United States Army, where he found great pride and fulfillment in his military life. Following his service, Robbie continued to make a positive impact in the community by working in human resources for the Army and later for Cowboy Driving in Ponca City.
A simple man at heart, Robbie cherished the joys of life. His love for the outdoors was evident through his passions for fishing, golfing, and hunting. He also had a deep appreciation for travel, always ready to explore new places. Above all, Robbie held his family dear to his heart. He and Susan Rolling reconnected in 2017 at their 30 year Perry High School reunion, and the rest is history. They were soon married on July 14, 2018 in Perry. They enjoyed many happy times together during the past 7 years. Robbie loved spending time with his children, Bri Ann Dixon and her husband Connor, and Kayla Cockrum (Bobby Griffin). He took joy in being a grandfather to his grandchildren: Christian Cockrum, Kaylee Cockrum, Brooklyn Cockrum, Lucas Cockrum, Mason Cockrum, Liam Dixon, Marley Dixon, Nicolette Cockrum and Kinsley Griffin. Additionally, he is survived by his father Paul Shimanek and stepmother Denise Shimanek; siblings: Brandon Shimanek and his wife Susan, Jason Shimanek and his wife Melissa, Damon Shimanek, and Tommee Wolfe and his wife Melanie; aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, and the Workmans, very special extended family members.
Robbie is preceded in death by his parents Stan and Jonece (Hasenfratz) Cockrum Thorpe, stepfather Mark Thorpe, his son Broque Cockrum, maternal grandparents Merle and Elenora Hasenfratz and paternal grandparents Henry and Evelyn Shimanek. Those who knew him will remember his warmth, kindness, and unwavering devotion to his family and friends.
In honor of Robbie's life, a Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at Grace Hill Cemetery in Perry, Oklahoma. Following the graveside will be a time for family and friends to gather and celebrate the life of a remarkable man who touched many lives with his gentle spirit and love for others at Perry Assembly of God, Perry, OK.
