Robert Clayton Coker, affectionately known as "Clay," passed away on March 11, 2026 on Olive Grove Road in Turbeville, South Carolina. Clay was a devoted Gamecock fan, loved fishing, and loved visiting his Uncle Harry's tractor shop. He was well known throughout the community. He earned his high school diploma from East Clarendon, which laid the foundation for a life dedicated to cultivating the land he loved.
Clay is survived by his father, Robbie Coker of Turbeville; cherished siblings, Robin Walsh (Michael) of North Charleston and Melissa C. Floyd of Turbeville. He was proud of his nieces, Kerri Allison Hagwood (Austin) of Kingstree, Anna Walsh of North Charleston, Chloe Floyd of Turbeville, Chelsea Floyd of Turbeville, Christen Floyd (Antonio) of Lake City; and this nephew, Kipp Barrineau (Leslie) of Turbeville. In addition to his immediate family, he also leaves behind his dear Aunt Nelda Green of Turbeville, and Uncle Johnny Green of Lake City, special cousin; Kathryn Turbeville; numerous great nieces and nephews; along with many cousins who will carry fond memories of Clay.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Marie Coker Hardy; A sister, Kim C. Barrineau; paternal grandparents, Rev. Robert Coker and Lossie Coker; maternal grandparents, Eugene Green and Inez Green. Their memories remain an enduring presence in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
A Funeral Service will be held in memory of Clay on Saturday, March 14, 2026, starting at 2:00 pm at Floyd Funeral Home Chapel, with burial at Olive Grove Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 13, 2026 at Floyd Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.
Palbearers will be Lance Green, Brian Coker, Brett Coker, Darren Robinson, Marion Watts and Harris Welch. Honorary ballbearers will be Glenn Coker, Johnny Green and Tommy Robinson.
Clay's legacy of hard work, love for his family and his community will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him. His spirit and contributions will be remembered fondly by all who were touched by his life.
