Robert Allen Collins, known affectionately as Robert to his family and friends, passed away peacefully at his home in Huntsville, TX, on July 18, 2025. Born on January 21, 1970, in Ballinger, TX, Robert was a man whose life was defined by his unwavering commitment to his loved ones, his service to his country, and his passion for the simple joys in life. Robert was a proud veteran, having joined the navy in 1988. His service was marked by courage and dedication as he took part in Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm, and he was honored as a Cold War Veteran. His time in the military was not just a job; it was a significant chapter in his life that shaped the man he became, instilling in him values of discipline, honor, and camaraderie. Throughout his life, Robert's interests were as varied as they were heartfelt. An avid fisherman, he found solace in the tranquility of the lakes and rivers, a pastime where he could reflect on life's simple pleasures. His passion for guns was another facet of his character, showcasing his appreciation for precision and skill in pursuits that he found both challenging and relaxing. To those who knew him, the words funny, loving, and gentle come to mind when remembering Robert. His sense of humor could light up a room, and his gentle nature made him a friend and confidant to many. Robert's family was the cornerstone of his life. He shared a profound and special connection with his wife, Denice Collins, who stood by him through every chapter of their lives together. His love for his children, Mary Stansfield and her husband Will, Michael Hoxsey and his wife Angel, Matthew Hoxsey Sr. and his wife Eve, and his late children, Martin Hoxsey and Cheyenne Collins, was boundless. Robert was a cherished grandfather to Nathan, Braiden, Dustin, Haygen, Alana, Kyleigh, Mackenzie, Landun, Shaelynn, Michael, Matthew Jr., Cole, and Gilbert. Each grandchild held a special place in his heart, and he took great joy in their accomplishments and unique personalities. The family circle extended beyond his immediate relatives, touching the lives of his niece Tammy Williamson and nephews Richard, Ronny Johnson, and David McGivray. Robert's siblings, James Calcavecchia and his wife Penny, Raeylyn Calcavecchia and her husband Curtis, Jimmy Cross, and the late Pat Johnson Medart, as well as his stepmother Pat Collins, shared in the journey of his life. Though his father Bobby and mother Juanita predeceased him, the legacy they left in Robert continues to live on. Robert's bond with his childhood friends Tommy Daniels, Dennis Cummings, and Darrel Engle was unbreakable. Their shared memories are a testament to a lifelong brotherhood that will be sorely missed. He was a man of community and connection, with a family circle that included numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, adopted children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Robert Allen Collins will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His legacy of love, laughter, and dedication to family and country will continue to inspire those he left behind. His life was a tapestry of meaningful relationships and proud accomplishments, and he will be remembered with love and admiration.
