Robert K. Coolbaugh passed away peacefully on August 3, 2025, in Waleska, GA, at the age of 100. Born on February 24, 1925, in Groton, NY, he lived a life defined by dedication, commitment, and the love of discovery.
Robert's illustrious career in the U.S. Air Force was a testament to his courage and patriotism. He served valiantly as a fighter pilot during World War II, demonstrating not only skill and bravery in the skies but also an unwavering devotion to his country. Rising to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, he retired after 32 years of distinguished service. Those who served with him remember Robert as a steadfast leader, a trusted ally, and a true friend.
Robert's zest for life did not wane with his retirement. He was a man of varied interests, most notably his love for travel and his passion for golf.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nyra F. Coolbaugh; daughter, Cynthia L. Coolbaugh and son, Keith M. Coolbaugh.
Robert is survived by his children, Robert J. Coolbaugh, Lynn C. DeWolfe and Stephen D. Coolbaugh; grandchildren, David J. Doane, John R. Coolbaugh, Cara F. Brown, Matthew T. Coolbaugh, Brian K. Coolbaugh, Robert S. Coolbaugh, Hayley M.L. Coolbaugh, Adam W. Coolbaugh and Stephanie L. Coolbaugh; seven great-grandchildren; as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.
