Robert L. Crowder

Robert Lewis Crowder, age 94, of Greenville, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at West Georgia Hospice in LaGrange.
Mr. Crowder was born on April 20, 1931, in Durand, the son of William Rutherford Crowder and Willie Edgar Fuller Crowder. He was a lifelong resident of this area. He retired from Georgia L.P. Gas Company as a truck driver with forty-two years of loyal service. He was also a lifelong and active member of Durand Trinity Church.
Robert was known for his love for his family, community, and church. He was a gifted and prolific gardener and deeply loved his tree farm. As an experienced craftsman, he enjoyed woodworking - especially making hand-hewn wooden bowls. His work ethic was unparalleled and admired by all those who knew him. A man of few words, his faith and integrity were demonstrated by his actions. His thoughts and opinions were deeply respected whenever he chose to share them.
He is preceded in death by his parents, by his wife, Sarah Elizabeth "Dollie" Toney Crowder, and by his brother, William R. "Bill" Crowder, Jr.
He is survived by his daughters, Martha Ann (Lee) Todd of Greenville, Sara Crowder (Bill) Godowns of Pine Mountain, and Hope Crowder (Marcus) Sickmueller of Stuttgart, Germany; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Carrie Chambers and her children, Brooks and Anna Grace Keller; Lee (Lanna) Todd; Jessica Lynn Johnson; Ashley McVey and her children, Connor and Amelia Kate McVey; Lauren Elizabeth Godowns; Will (Charlsy) Godowns and their daughter, Lila Kate Godowns; Justin Kyle Dean; and by his sisters, Mary Elizabeth Wall and Barbara Rogers.
The funeral service will be conducted on Sunday, January 11, 2026, at Durand Trinity Church at 4:00 PM with interment following in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation on Saturday, January 10, 2026, from 4:00 until 6:00 PM at Cox Funeral Home in Manchester.
